Mission
UPVHA will promote quality health care especially for the vulnerable groups
- With their participation
- in activating the public health system
- in revitalising promoting healthy living practices
- by encouragement of social vigilance and
- by strengthening partnership among like minded individuals, institutions and groups,
- and in this way
- Build a community movement for health
Aims and Objectives
- To make a reality for all, give special emphasis on the health of the rural poor and women and their vulnerable communities groups (e.g., tribal, child labour prone areas, etc.)
- To promote community participation and involvement for improvement, promotion and preservation of health of the people of the state
- To promote population and family life education
- To develop good working relationship among the NGOs and relevant civil, government and international organisations
- To collect, disseminate and exchange information on health and development
- To work for promotion of holistic health i.e. physical, mental, spiritual and environmental through health education and training as change agents in the community
Role
To meet the above objectives, UPVHA has defined its role as a federal networking organisation and acts through
- Establishment of partnership with them for training, lobbying and advocacy on strategic issues. It will also develop partnership with other institutions, departments, development oriented corporations and other networking agencies
- Promotion of community health education through its member organisations working across the state
- Promotion and strengthening the member organisations for their fullest participation in community health and movement for social change
- Dissemination of knowledge and information regarding programmes, activities, opportunities of resources and funds to NGOs through published material and holding seminars, workshops and meetings, etc.
- Act as a bridge between NGOs and the government
- Conduct various need based training for the health workers of NGOs
- Prioritise the areas for policy intervention and campaigning
