UPVHA Receives WHO WNTD Award 2025

The Uttar Pradesh Voluntary Health Association (UPVHA) has been honoured by the World Health Organization (WHO) with its prestigious WHO World No Tobacco Day Award (South-East Asia Region) for 2025 for its remarkable contribution to tobacco control.

The award was presented to the organisation by Dr Yvan JF Hutin, Representative, WHO India, during a brief ceremony held on Friday at the WHO office in New Delhi. Dr L Swasticharan, DDG (EMR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, was also present on the occasion.

Vivek Awasthi, Executive Director, UPVHA, accepted the award on behalf of the organisation. In his address, he thanked the Government of Uttar Pradesh, particularly the Health Department, for their constant guidance, trust and cooperation, without which this achievement would not have been possible.

He also expressed gratitude to the state’s educational and health institutions for their support and guidance. He stated that the organisation would continue to make its utmost contribution toward ensuring that the benefits of government health schemes and policies reach every citizen.
