HIV/AIDS

HIV/AIDS is one of the biggest challenges world over in the recent decades. UPVHA is working on HIV/AIDS through Target Intervention Project in Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh with the financial and technical support from Uttar Pradesh State Aids Control Society (UPSACS).  The target population under this project is female sex workers and UPVHA is working with 300 FSWs to save them from the risk of HIV infection.

The activities include:

Community Mobilisation: The team of UPVHA works at community level and provides information to community
Health and HIV Check-ups: Regular health check-ups, HIV testing of selected high risk groups (HRGs), medicines and general medical check of HRGs
DIC Activities: Cultural programme organised through HRGs on time to time. During the programmes, information is given about symptoms of HIV infection
Training: Training is organised for the staff to build their capacity
Health Camps in Slums: Health camps are organised with the objective to know about the situation of HIV in the people of slums
